Despite the holiday break being in full effect league-wide, that didn't stop Alex and William Nylander from stepping on the ice and getting some practice reps in.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been off the ice since Monday after being downed by the Winnipeg Jets in their pre-holiday-break finale.
Like the rest of the league, the players enjoyed the time off with family and friends but that didn't stop a pair of Maple Leafs from strapping up their skates and hitting the ice.
William and Alex Nylander spent the break with their family playing shinny on an outdoor rink, located somewhere in Toronto. Alongside their three sisters, the Nylanders enjoyed the sights and sounds of playing outdoor, as captured by Ella, on her Instagram page.
Sometimes you can take the player away from the game but you can't take the game away from the player as the duo look to get right back into the swing of things in short order with William getting ready to head out to Detroit, while Alex geared up for a Boxing Day matinee against the Belleville Senators yesterday.
William is enjoying another stellar campaign for the Maple Leafs as he currently leads the team with 23 goals and is second to only
Mitch Marner (46 points) in points with 40.
He has also been finishing at an elite rate with an 18.5% shooting clip and he's nearing his career-high in ATOI as he's 13 seconds short of the 19:55 he reached last year.
With the holidays coming to a close, the Maple Leafs are set to embark on a back-to-back set starting in Detroit on Friday before coming back home and welcoming the Washington Capitals on Saturday.
Expect William to be raring to get back onto the ice and help the Maple Leafs traverse the tricky terrains of the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference playoff picture.
