"The Toronto Maple Leafs offseason is underway and it'll be a very interesting one for general manager Kyle Dubas. Lots of question marks linger and lots of veteran unrestricted free agents could walk, however all eyes are on one 28 year old.Zach Hyman is headed to unrestricted free agency and the majority of fans and players in the Leafs' locker room want to see him stick around. Of course it won't be easy as he's expected to land a deal around $6million AAV on the open market, something Dubas might not be able to hand out. Earlier this week a report came out from NHL insider Frank Seravalli that Hyman rejected a deal from the Leafs that would have gave him an AAV of $5million. Hyman's agent , Todd Reynolds, reached out to the media and said the report is not accurate. He wouldn't give any further details. With such a vague statement it doesn't mean much, was he not offered a contract at all? Did he instead reject an offer that was $4.5million AAV?It's going to be very interesting to see where this heads this offseason.
