The Toronto Maple Leafs have always tried to add some veteran presence to balance out the young core that pushes the team. Last year one of those additions was Joe Thornton. The forward dealt with some injuries during his time in Toronto but his presence was felt in the locker room. Unfortunately it wasn't felt as much on the ice he registered just 20 points in 44 games during the regular season and added just 1 point during the Leafs' 7 game series against the Montreal Canadiens in the first round of the playoffs. Thornton decided to head back south of the border during free agency and signed a one year deal with the Florida Panthers. It was an easy choice for him as he sees the Panthers as more of a contender. «I see their team on paper, I watched their team last year, I love their team and that's it,» Thornton said. «I love what they're building and I'm excited to be part of it. But everything is about ultimately winning the Stanley Cup and the Panthers are right there in my opinion.»
What do you think of Thornton's comments?
