Leafs prospect Easton Cowan solidifies himself as a big game player
Easton Cowan has been phenomenal this postseason for the London Knights, but his play in the championship round has been astonishing.
Cowan earned the impressive feature of OHL player of the week last week after producing 8 points in 2 victories for the Knights in the OHL Finals.
Cowan, the Leafs' 2023 1st round draft pick, has actually been incredible all season in the OHL this year. He has set a career high in all statistics amassing an impressive 34 Goals and 96 Points in 54 GP. Cowan also had an unbelievable 42-game point streak that ended earlier this post season, including a 36-game point streak during the season - the best among London Knights players of all-time.
Cowan has also proven he can play in all situations this year as he also broke Connor McDavid's OHL short-handed goal record with 7.
While it's unfair to already draw comparisons for Cowan in his early hockey career, it's hard not to compare him to fellow Canadian Mitch Marner. They both played for the Knights, are great penalty killers and have both been extremely successful for London in the post season. The only difference is that Cowan plays with a lot more pace and edge, whereas Marner is a bit more creative and methodical.
Easton Cowan is rounding out to be exactly the type of player the Leafs lack. One who can be trusted in all situations and can perform in the playoffs. The London Knights are currently up 2-0 against the Oshawa Generals and are now heavy favourites to capture an OHL championship.
