Cowan was not the pick that many Leaf fans were expecting at #28 in the first round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, but by now, everyone in Leafs Nation is grateful for the scouting staff having done their due diligence, identifying this unique talent. Now, he's repaying the Leafs' belief in him with an otherworldly performance in his D+1 season.
Cowan is now the London Knights' record-holder for longest point streak, having extended his incredible streak to 23 games, following this unbelievable penalty shot goal.
The Mount Brydges, Ontario native passed Mitch Marner this week for the longest point streak in Knights franchise history. Marner set the record with a 21-game point streak back in 2015-16. Marner doesn't mind, however. In fact, he's been watching closely and cheering Cowan on.
With the trade deadline fast approaching and the Leafs scouring the market for a significant upgrade on the blueline, Cowan's name will probably be at the forefront of many of the conversations with rival GMs. However, I don't think the Leafs are going to entertain any deals involving the youngster at this point, especially with how well he has played this season.
