A heated game in December of 2021 that saw the Jets defeat the Leafs 6-3 led to camera crews catching Jets defenseman Logan Stanley yelling 'VIIICTORYYY' as he entered the dressing room before they caught Mark Scheifele asking his team the now infamous question.
For the Jets, those comments have led to nothing but disappointment, as the Leafs are 6-0 against Winnipeg since, including being the first team to beat them this season.
Following their win at the end of October, the Leafs' social media team took a shot at Scheifele and the Jets when they shared a picture of John Tavares being given the game MVP belt with the caption "Anything better than a new belt pic?"
Less than a month later, the team was at it again, this time doing so while congratulating the Toronto Argonauts for winning the Grey Cup and beating the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Leafs' 'X' account quoted the Argos' post with the caption 'VICTORY', which many have taken as the Leafs taking another shot at the Jets and their comments from three years ago.
Some may call it petty, but regardless of how you view it, you have to admit that it is pretty funny stuff from a fan's standpoint that the Leafs' PR team continues to remind the Jets that Toronto sports teams have had their number since those infamous quotes. Salt in the wounds, as it were.
