The Maple Leafs have a good test ahead of them tonight against the Dallas Stars with both teams sporting very similar records so far in the 2024-25 NHL regular season.
Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has already decided on significant changes to his forward lines for tonight.
Now comes word that Berube has also decided on a couple of late changes for his defensive group as well.
Sportsnet reporter Luke Fox attended today's practice and noted that Simon Benoit, who skated as an extra on Tuesday, is expected to get right back into the lineup on Wednesday, forcing Philippe Myers back to the press box. With Myers coming out, Conor Timmins will slide back in.
The defensive lines posted at practice showed Morgan Reilly and Phillipe Myers on the first d-line, Jake McCabe and Chris Tanev on the second, with Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Connor Timmins slotted into the third pairing, but Myers staying out for extra work after the morning skate would seem to indicate that he's the odd man out. How that will impact the overall pairings remains to be seen.
Joseph Woll gets the nod between the pipes as Anthony Stolarz remains sidelined with an injury that Leafs GM Brad Treliving provided an unfortunate update on recently.
The Maple Leafs may be getting more help in net soon as an insider recently revealed a timeline for the injured Matt Murray to make his season debut with the team.
The Toronto Maple Leafs go into tonight's game with a record of 19-10-2, while the Dallas Stars are 19-11-0. This is a game between two top NHL teams that is sure to provide tons of entertainment for fans.
