The Toronto Maple Leafs will be looking for at least one new coach to join Craig Berube's staff as Manny Malhotra moves on to new job out West to Vancouver.

Everyone knew that changes were likely coming to Berube's supporting staff, but no one expected it would happen because of another organization. This afternoon, the Vancouver Canucks announced they hired former Canucks forward and Leafs assistant coach Manny Malhotra to be the head coach of their AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks.

Following the announcement from Vancouver, Malhotra released a statement.

"Being able to return the to the Vancouver Canucks organization is an incredible opportunity for both me and my family. Getting the chance to help develop the next wave of young talent is an honour and a privilege. We have a lot of good prospects in the group, and I can't wait to get started on the ice. I would like to thank the Toronto Maple Leafs as well for providing me the opportunity to work with them the past four years."

Malhotra worked with the Leafs as an assistant the past four seasons. Prior to that, he was a development coach and assistant coach with the Canucks from 2016 to 2020. With Malhotra now gone, the hunt for a new coaching staff for Berube has officially begun.
