"When the NHL announced it was suspending the season, it gave players the opportunity leave their city of employment to travel where they wish. Some players used that opportunity to travel overseas and go to their home country, other players traveled across North America and some just stayed put in their city of employment. Toronto Maple Leafs' forward Auston Matthews was one player who decided to head home as he headed back to Arizona. According to Matthews, he brought a teammate with him. Matthews revealed during his latest social media video chat that he's actually quarantining with Leafs' goalie Frederik Andersen. He said the duo have been "just chilling by the pool".
Patrick Marleau (in San Jose), Auston Matthews (in Phoenix, with Freddie Andersen) and Mitch Marner (in Toronto) together on a video conference call just now. Everyone is basically chilling. — Kristen Shilton (@kristen_shilton) April 6, 2020
