Last week, Max Domi was placed on injured reserve after missing consecutive practices to try to manage a nagging injury.
Unfortunately, Domi has yet to see any progress in his recovery and did not take to the ice for Tuesday's practice either.
Following practice, Craig Berube was asked about his health status and noted that Domi would not be travelling with the Leafs to Florida for their games Wednesday against the Panthers and Saturday against the Lightning.
Domi hasn't played since November 16th against the Edmonton Oilers and was placed on the IR November 20th, but was retroactive to the date of the Oilers game. That means that, as of Tuesday, he was eligible to be activated.
The 29-year-old signed a four-year extension with the Leafs in June following a 9-goal, 47- point season.
Although Domi has struggled to produce offensively, registering just 6 assists in 19 games this season, his defensive play has improved under Berube.
With Auston Matthews out, Domi had been entrusted by Berube to anchor the Leafs at center and he appeared to be on the verge of breaking out of his scoring slump.
Unfortunately, the timing of his injury prevented him from scoring his first goal earlier than last season, which was in December.
As the Leafs begin to get healthy, and continue to rack up the points, they will take their time with Domi's injury and ensure that he is 100 percent healthy before they bring him back into the fold.
