"The Toronto Maple Leafs and Auston Matthews made headlines on Tuesday when the team announced Matthews had signed a five year extension. Matthews new contract will kick in with a $11.6million salary cap hit through 2023-24.While the contract is a no brainer for the Leafs, it definitely makes this summer get even more interesting as the team is running out of cap room and still need to sign Mitch Marner. Marner has continued to prove to be the Leafs MVP over the last two seasons and while he might not score at Matthews' pace, he stays healthy and has put up the numbers. So how much will he make compared to Matthews? According to Bob McKenzie the exact same thing..."In Mitch Marner's heart and mind, and that of the people surrounded him - his family, his agent Darren Ferris - they absolutely, 100 percent believe earnestly that Mitch Marner is worth every bit as much as Auston Matthews.
