Entering his 12th season with the Maple Leafs, Morgan Rielly, who will begin his 2024-25 campaign on a pairing with newcomer Chris Tanev, has witnessed many players come and go, some leaving a more significant impact on him than others.
Rielly will be facing former teammate Nikolay Kulemin in the pre-season game against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday, and the Maple Leafs veteran reflected on their time together this morning.
As reported by David Alter on X, Rielly stated:
Kulemin, a former Maple Leaf, is attempting to make an NHL comeback after last playing for the New York Islanders in the 2018-19 season. Since then, he has remained productive in the KHL with Magnitogorsk Metallurg and UFA Salavat Yulayev.
Now 38 years old, Kulemin is looking to bring his veteran presence to the Senators after signing a PTO with the club. He is recognized for his two-way style of play and high hockey IQ. As he makes his comeback, Maple Leafs fan will undoubtedly be rooting for the success of the former fan favourite.
