Toronto native and new Leafs acquisition Chris Tanev is already making his presence felt within the community mere days after signing a 6-year deal.
The Toronto Maple Leafs signed Chris Tanev to a 6-year deal earlier this week, worth $4.5M per season. Tanev is already showing Leafs Nation that he has tremendous character and is excited to be a part of the culture in Toronto by getting involved in the community immediately.
The former Dallas Stars defender was front and centre at a Leafs Hockey School skate on Thursday, smiling and signing autographs for the children.
There is something special about a player being able to give back to their community, but it's even more special when the impact is felt this quickly.
Tanev brings character, heart and passion to a Maple Leafs club that has lacked that from their blueline for quite some time. The Maple Leafs defence has seen some major tweaks this off-season and the hope is that the improvements on the backend will lead to more sustained success throughout the 2024-25 season and subsequent playoffs.
