The jury is still out on general manager Kyle Dubas as he was handed some pretty good pieces when he took over the Toronto Maple Leafs. He's done a fair job of digging himself out of salary cap hell every year and kept a competitive team on the ice. While you could argue he had no choice, he still gets some pretty big criticism for the big contracts he handed out to Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and William Nylander. Those contracts are exactly why he sits atop a recent NHL player agent poll. Dubas was the only GM to get multiple votes in the "Best GM to get client a good deal from" category. The Leafs' GM was in a league of his own with 29% of the vote while Jim Nill of the Stars, Jason Botterill of the Sabres and Doug Wilson of the Sharks were tied for second with 6%. Former Leafs' GM Lou Lamoriello was voted the "Toughest GM to Deal With". This is not necessarily a good sign for the future.
