Reported first by Nick Alberga, the co-host of 'Leafs Morning Take', and confirmed by The Fourth Period's Dave Pagnotta, the Leafs appear to be closing in on a deal with former Habs captain Max Pacioretty.
Pagnotta confirmed that the deal would not be a PTO, but rather a standard player contract. The 35-year-old has battled some severe injuries the past few seasons, only skating in 47 games last year with the Washington Capitals and just 44 total games in the two seasons prior. A former six-time 30+ goal-scorer, Pacioretty would add the depth scoring the Leafs need on the left side. What the signing would mean for Robertson, however, remains unknown and this could very well the first domino to fall in that regard.
