Over the last two months there was all kinds of speculation regarding Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander and what the team would do with him. Lots of insiders had teams hounding the Leafs trying to make a deal, the most mentioned was clearly the Carolina Hurricanes. However according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman there was a pretty big deal on the table from the St. Louis Blues. According to Friedman, the Blues had offered captain and veteran defenseman Alex Pietrangelo. Friedman adds that the Kyle Dubas and the Leafs preferred to hold onto Nylander because he's six years younger and his current contract likely came in cheaper than what Pietrangelo will cost moving forward because he's UFA after this season. Would you have liked to see Dubas make this deal?
