During the second period of Thursday's tilt between the Jets and the Leafs, Justin Holl had attempted to make a play on the puck with his hand while sprawled out on the ice and covered the puck with his hand.
That's a penalty. There's no question about it. Nobody is disputing that. You know what's also a penalty? Paul Stastny running through Holl, who was sliding on his knees. The head was the main point of contact.
How the official hammers Holl with a penalty for an infraction that is not the least bit dangerous, but fails to call an illegal check to the head that immediate follows is beyond me.
Holl has certainly taken a lot of punishment this season. He left Tuesday's game in Boston after being struck in the head by a puck. Thankfully, the undrafted blueliner was not injured on the hit by Stastny. That could have been a whole lot worse.
