TMZ provides significant update on Sean Higgins, the man who took the lives of Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau
Per TMZ, Sean Higgins, the drunk driver who allegedly struck and killed Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau, had his second court appearance and remains behind bars.
A week ago today, Higgins, who was admittedly under the influence of alcohol, reportedly struck the Gaudreau brothers with his car while attempt to aggressively pass an SUV on the shoulder as the pair were cycling home from their sister's wedding rehearsal.
He appeared in court over the weekend and appeared visibly frustrated that he had to remain in jail until today, when he was scheduled to meet with the judge who was assigned his case. According to TMZ, the video appearance was brief and Higgins will remain behind bars until September 13th after today's hearing was postponed.
"The judge had been expected to make a ruling on Higgins' pretrial conditions at the hearing ... but the proceedings were postponed after just a few seconds.
Higgins is now slated to remain behind bars until his next meeting with the judge on Sept. 13."
The Blue Jackets and Flames have held vigils in memory of Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew as the family continues to mourn their losses and plan their memorial services.
Higgins was previously charged with a DUI back in 2005, but had his charges dropped after the arresting officer did not show up to the court date.
