The ongoing debate about how the Toronto Maple Leafs need to strengthen their blueline will rage on until the teams adds a defenseman or wins the Stanley Cup without one. The team has been linked in rumours to a couple of defenseman including Mike Green, Ian Cole and Chris Tanev with usually James van Riemsdyk or Tyler Bozak going the other way. However the Leafs could possibly look in another direction to pull off what would be a blockbuster type deal. Just last week, New York Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh found himself apparently on the trade block with the Rangers stuck in neutral. Larry Brooks of the New York Post highlighted the Leafs over the weekend and pointed them as being a conceivable trade partner. Who does Brooks think would be a candidate to go the other?William Nylander. Before the season started, Nylander found himself in trade rumours and now with the young 21 year old getting closer to RFA status, Brooks suggesting he go the other way for McDonagh in a blockbuster deal. The Leafs would get the 28 year old Rangers defenseman for this season and next at a $4.7million cap hit.McDonagh arguably would be the perfect fit at a good age and affordable contract, would you be willing to trade Nylander for McDonagh?
