Esa Tikkanen spent 14 seasons in the NHL, most of which was spent with the dynasty 80's Edmonton Oilers teams. He was part of four Stanley Cups with the group before winning his fifth and final Stanley Cup with the New York Rangers in 1994.
Since retiring from hockey in 2001, Tikkanen has spent time coaching in Asia, Norway and Finland, but has recently been accused of tax fraud in Finland. As a result, and likely to cover some of the expenses as part of the pending investigation, Tikkanen has decided to sell four of his Cup rings. He made the decision that his first ring, that he got in 1985 will not be sold.
Tikkanen also spent time with the St. Louis Blues, Vancouver Canucks, New Jersey Devils, Florida Panthers and Washington Capitals throughout his career. Over 14 seasons, he skated in 877 games and posted 244 goals, 630 points and 1077 penalty minutes.
While he wasn't a prolific offensive talent in the regular season, Tikkanen always elevated his game during the playoffs. In 186 playoff games, he registered 72 goals and 132 points to go along with 275 penalty minutes.
