The Dallas Stars are facing elimination after a 3-1 loss on home ice to the Edmonton Oilers on Friday evening, and when asked by ESPN's Tim Cowlishaw about a bit of a "lifeless" second period from the Stars, it appeared to rub DeBoer the wrong way.
Obviously, DeBoer disagreed with the reporter about his team's effort in the loss and accused him of questioning the team's character before telling him to "go ahead and write whatever the f**k you want."
The exchange can be seen in the clip below:
It goes without saying that the tension is always high in the postseason with the stakes being so high. When it comes to the Conference Finals, there's just so much on the line and for DeBoer, who is not exactly a shy individual, the question just seemed to irk him.
The Stars have been a force to be reckoned with all season long, so for a reporter to question their character and their integrity in one of the most important games of the year, it would only make sense for the bench boss to get a bit defensive.
One thing is for certain in all of this. Cowlishaw is very likely going to choose his words a little more carefully moving forward.
