The Toronto Maple Leafs fell to the Ottawa Senators 5-3 last night in the Nation's Capital. The game itself had a playoff atmosphere with the refs putting the whistles away for the most part and letting the teams play. However, with the Leafs' net empty in the final stretch, Senators forward Ridly Greig iced the game by taking a slapshot from near the top of the crease into the empty net in a bad manners gesture in a game the Sens had already won.

The Leafs did not like that and responded accordingly with Morgan Rielly going after Greig, first and cross-checking him high and kicking off a huge scrum. Following the game, the Senators' social media team took one final shot at the Leafs by naming Greig the team's player of the game with his "slap-away goal".

There's a reason why you don't see a lot of these types of goals. The primary reasons are that players know better and that when something like this does occur, there's hell to pay afterwards.

This was the last game of the season series between the two clubs with the Senators winning three of four. Any additional retribution the Leafs are seeking will have to wait until next season, but as much as I hate the Senators, I will say this gave me a good laugh. Well played, Sens social team, well played.
