Future hall-of-famer Sidney Crosby is entering the final year of his monstrous 12-year deal that he signed with the Penguins in 2013, which means he is eligible to sign an extension. While discussions have remained out of the public eye, it hasn't stopped the media from speculating as to why one has not been signed yet or if he even wants to sign one. Crosby put all of that talk to rest today when he spoke with reporters ln Monday.
Whether it is a one, two or three-year extension remains to be seen for the 37-year-old, but it sounds like he intends to start and finish his career as a Penguin and reports indicate his extension is likely to come in around $10M per season.
Crosby was reportedly displeased when former Leafs GM Kyle Dubas came in and traded his favourite wingman, Jake Guentzel, but that appears to be water under the bridge now, given this latest announcement.
In a decorated career full of personal accolades, Crosby has won three Stanley Cups with the Penguins, and through 1,272 regular season games has registered 592 goals and 1,596 points to go along with 71 goals and 201 points in 180 playoff games.
