Leafs forward Max Pacioretty was absent from practice on Wednesday after tweaking something beforehand, which appears to have gotten worse according to Craig Berube.

Tuesday saw the Leafs recall AHL leading goal-scorer in what many saw as a precaution due to Auston Matthews' injury at the 4 Nations Face-Off.
That, however, no longer appears to be the case. Pacioretty took to the ice briefly ahead of Wednesday's practice, only to depart before it began.
Thursday saw the Leafs hold an optional skate where head coach Craig Berube provided an unfortunate update on the 36-year-old veteran.
"He went out and tried to do some stuff, but it was a no-go. We'll see where he is at tomorrow."

As for Pacioretty being able to play on Saturday when the Leafs take on the Carolina Hurricanes? Berube essentially ruled him out for the entire weekend.
"Not right now. Unless he recovers really quick tonight."
The veteran, who joined the Leafs on a bonus-laden deal at the end of training camp, has missed 18 of the Leafs' 55 games due to various injuries up to this point and looks set to miss at least a handful of games coming out of the break with his latest issue.
In 37 games with the Leafs, the former first-round pick has just 5 goals and 13 points - a far cry from what the Leafs were hoping he would provide.
