After reporting the news on Twitter, Traikos had taken part in an exchange with another Twitter user where the user had suggested that, given Kane's reputation, the Leafs would likely stay far away from the polarizing winger. Traikos' reply has been receiving a lot of negative attention.
The comparison that Traikos made between the two players is certainly an unfair one, given Ho-Sang's much improved attitude and willingness to make the most of the opportunity before him in the AHL after learning a hard lesson in Long Island and then in Sweden. Needless to say, the Postmedia writer is taking some heat.
Drawing parallels that aren't there is not only irresponsible, but unfair to a player like Josh Ho-Sang, who has done nothing but appear grateful for the opportunity the Leafs have given him. He has not been disruptive, problematic or even the slightest bit egotistical.
Instead of being compared to Kane, who appears to bring a circus with him wherever he goes, Ho-Sang should be applauded for his complete 180-degree turnaround and solid player for the Marlies this season.
