As Leafs fans, we are accustomed to Auston Matthews scoring goals. What we have not yet grown accustomed to is Matthews lining up the opposition for big hits. So far this season, we have seen a new side of Matthews. He is currently the team's 2nd-leading hitter, behind only Rasmus Sandin. Here are some of his biggest hits of the season thus far.

For Matthews, it's a new dynamic to his game and as an already complete player, with Matthews having added another dimension to his game, he is becoming all the more dangerous. Now, not only do teams need to be aware of where Matthews is in the offensive zone and the defensive zone, now they also have to be aware of where he is on the ice, as the 6'3, 220-pound center is capable of laying the boom on unsuspecting puck carriers.
