Well, it's been nearly a month since those comments were made and the Leafs have yet to add or subtract from their current blueline, consisting of Morgan Rielly, T.J. Brodie, Jake McCabe, Timothy Liljegren, Mark Giordano, Conor Timmins and the aforementioned Klingberg. Are we to assume that Treliving is done for now and will address this in-season? According to one rumour site, that's not the case and the Leafs and Canucks may be talking about a trade involving a defenseman as we speak.
Per "Eklund" of HockeyBuzz, the Leafs and Canucks have touched base regarding a potential deal that would send a Leafs defenseman to Vancouver. The player and the possible return were not specified.
Naturally, this is one we should likely take with a grain of salt, as Eklund isn't exactly a regular news-breaker, but we do know that the Leafs want to make some changes and we do know that the Canucks are open for business, so perhaps there's something to this. We'll just have to wait and see.
