As an update on the Dell/Batherson fiasco, Sabres goalie Aaron Dell has been summoned by the NHL's Department of Player Safety for his brutal and unnecessary contact on Drake Batherson, which caused the young Sens winger to crash into the boards legs first.

The play, which can be seen below, occurred when Batherson was in pursuit of Sabres winger Victor Olofsson, who had the puck behind the Sabres' net. Dell had left his crease to run some interference on Batherson, and clipped him with an elbow, sending him hard into the end boards.

Batherson needed to be helped off the ice following the nasty spill, and was spotted making his way down the tunnel, unable to put any weight on his left leg as he made his way to the Sens' locker room.

After the game, Sens head coach DJ Smith called the play "ridiculous" and pointing out that if another player had done that, they'd have to pay the piper.

The early word on Batherson is not good. He is slated to be out "long-term" with an ankle injury. He'll be forced to miss his first ever All-Star Game appearance.
