It's been almost one full month since we last saw veteran defender Jake Muzzin in game action. Muzzin had suffered a concussion against the St. Louis Blues on January 15th and has missed a total of 7 games, despite having run contact drills with the team in a regular jersey in each of the last 3 practices.

Following Leafs practice on Wednesday, we thought we'd hear that Muzzin has been given the green light to return to action against the Flames on Thursday in Calgary, but so far we have received no such word.

Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe spoke with the media on Wednesday following practice, but the only real update that the bench boss had was that the medical staff still has not cleared Muzzin to return.

I'd imagine that if Muzzin doesn't go on Thursday in Calgary, he'll make his return to action on Saturday in Vancouver. But who knows - maybe we'll get some good news at some point during the day on Thursday about Muzzin being cleared to go.

The 32-year-old has been skating alongside his regular D partner in Justin Holl. Rielly, as expected, pairs with T.J. Brodie and it appears as though Travis Dermott could be the odd man out with Rasmus Sandin and Timothy Liljegren skating as the team's third pair.
