If you missed last night's Leafs game against the LA Kings, you missed an eventful matchup. After a brutal hit by LA's Matt Roy ended up taking Nick Robertson out of the game and before a questionable decision from Pierre Engvall led to him slashing LA's Sean Durzi in the back of the head, there was another play that could have ended much, much worse than it did. It happened in front of the official, was very dangerous and there was no call on the play.

As we all know, boarding is part of the game that sometimes can't be avoided. The game is played at such a high speed and sometimes players aren't able to adjust their hits accordingly. However, this particular hit from Sean Walker could've jeopardized Michael Bunting's career had he gone into the boards head-first and it was absolutely avoidable. Luckily, Bunting did get up from the hit unscathed, but it shows the constant risks hockey entails and how essential these calls are.

I think the Roy hit on Robertson was more poor luck for Robertson than anything, as he hit the boards pretty hard and was not slew-footed. The Engvall play bridged the gap between accidental and intentional and is a very "grey area" sort of play. The Walker shove on Bunting was easily the dirtiest play in the game and isn't getting the attention it should from the NHL's Department of Player Safety.
