Another major setback for the Bruins following latest announcement; missing the playoffs is a real possibility
The Boston Bruins have quite arguably lost more than any other NHL team this summer, having traded Taylor Hall, lost Dmitry Orlov and Tyler Bertuzzi to free agency and Patrice Bergeron to retirement. Now, another high-profile Bruin has decided to officially hang up the skates after much speculation that the decision was coming.
The Bruins announced on Monday, via an official statement from the team's long-time 2nd line center, David Krejci, has decided to hang up his skates after 16 seasons in Boston. The Bruins issued the following statement on Krejci's retirement:
"David, for 16 seasons you displayed an unmatched combination of creativity, poise, and wit with an uncanny knack for coming up clutch while remaining humble and determined through all your success.
You are a special player, person, and teammate who has made a lasting impact on our organization and our city.
For all you've done for the Boston Bruins, THANK YOU." - Bruins on Krejci's retirement
Krejci had suited up in 1,032 games across his 16 NHL seasons, amassing 231 career goals and 555 assists for a total of 786 points. He also added 128 points in 160 career playoff games. The 37-year-old won a Stanley Cup with the Bruins back in 2011.
