NHL stars asked who should be on the cover of EA NHL24; Auston Matthews' response was amazing

Matthews first graced the cover of the EA NHL franchise for NHL20. He then became the first player to be on the cover twice when he was named cover athlete in NHL22. With NHL24's cover athlete expected to be announced later today, Matthews, who was on scene shooting some footage for the game, was asked who he felt should be on the cover of this year's edition.
"I'll do it again, I'll go for the hat trick if they want me," Matthews said boldly, with a smile on his face before other players chimed in with who they felt should be on the cover. Near the end of the video, Matthews also asked "Has Sid ever been on one?" Implying that maybe it's finally Sidney Crosby's time to be on the cover as his career winds down.
After a down year in which he scored only 40 goals, it is highly unlikely Matthews will grace the cover again this season, but should he have another record-setting season like he did in 2021-22, he just might find himself becoming the only player to ever grace the cover of the EA NHL franchise three times.
