About a week and a half after Toronto reporter Howard Berger wrote a story about the possible changing of the guard on Hockey Night in Canada, HNIC host Ron MacLean made his return public. Now, it sounds like Kevin Bieksa will be making his return as well.

The former defenseman turned analyst for CBC was one of the key members of the panel that were rumoured not to be returning to the popular Saturday night staple for hockey fans. Berger was told by a source to expect grand changes and that the only one safe would be Elliotte Friedman. As it turns out, that report was incorrect.

John Shannon tweeted last night that Ron MacLean, who was present at a golf charity event, made his announcement public and would be returning to the program that he has worked on since 1986-87.

Fellow panel members in Jennifer Botterill and Kelly Hrudey have yet to make a similar announcement, but as of right now, we at least know that MacLean and Bieksa will be there every Saturday night.

Bieksa joined the Hockey Night in Canada team in 2020 and has become one of the more popular panelists on the show for his astute comments and analysis.
