Auston Matthews has had the luxury of playing with some absolute NHL legends in his young career, which only seems fitting because he is well on his way to becoming a legend in his own right. Matthews has been able to call veterans like Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton friends and teammates, with Jason Spezza being the latest on a pretty impressive list.

Matthews took some time on Sunday to show Spezza some love via his personal Instagram account, sharing a photo of the two together from The Heritage Classic in Hamilton, Ontario back in March with the text "They don't make em like this anymore.. Congrats 19. What an honour to share the ice with you."

Matthews will no doubt take what he has learned from each and every one of the legends he has played with to heart. The growth he has shown year over year is undoubtedly thanks, at least in part, to the lessons he has learned from some of the best to ever play. Thankfully, Spezza won't be going far, transitioning into an executive role with the club, so he'll be able to continue to impart some wisdom along the way.
