The Leafs are absolutely rolling right now, winners of their last four games, including two wins without the team's best player, Auston Matthews. Matthews has been sidelined since Sunday with an unspecified minor injury that he sustained in Ottawa on Saturday.

Matthews has been skating and training while sidelined and it has already been determined that he will travel with the team on their upcoming road swing, including stops in Tampa, Florida and Washington before returning home to wrap up the season in Toronto against Detroit and Boston.

It's wild to think that the Leafs have been able to remain so dominant without having a guy like this in their lineup:

Surprisingly, the Leafs have been almost unbeatable without Auston Matthews in the lineup, winning 10 of their last 12 games without the 24-year-old.

This iteration of the Leafs is perhaps the best we've seen in at least two decades.. maybe ever. They're deep at every position and regardless of who may be in or out of the lineup, they've shown an ability to elevate their game and persevere, including during several stints where the team's goaltenders have struggled with injury.

Matthews appears very close to returning, and not a moment too soon. With only 5 games remaining in the regular season, it will give Matthews an opportunity to continue to produce in the goals category. The 2016 1st overall pick is stalled at 58 goals, with Leon Draisaitl breathing down his neck with 54 goals and 1 game in hand to be played tonight against the Dallas Stars.
