December 9, 2021 (8:06 PM)
The Toronto Maple Leafs and general manager Kyle Dubas announced a trade on Thursday.
After searching for some defensive depth, the Leafs' GM was able to land some.
Trade chatter had the Leafs shopping forward Pierre Engvall, however instead they shipped out one of their offseason free agent signings.
Kurtis Gabriel now finds himself a member of the Chicago Blackhawks as the Leafs land defensemanChad Krys in return.
Gabriel wasn't really able to earn a roster spot on a consistent basis so he'll get a fresh start.
With Rasmus Sandin and Travis Dermott out, Krys gives the Leafs' another body on the blueline.
