Brad Marchand suffers first period injury, still leads Bruins to comeback road win
Monday night was a big one for the Boston Bruins and Brad Marchand, who was busted open during the first period after taking a high-stick from Washington Capitals forward Nic Dowd, which earned Dowd a double-minor on the play.
The play occurred with a little over 5 minutes remaining in the first frame as Marchand was attempting to make his way towards the Capitals net to try a poke the puck past Zach Fucale. Dowd appeared to be looking for a stick-lift that just missed the mark and clipped Marchand across the bridge of the nose.
Despite the fact that Marchand was gushing blood from his nose, he did not miss a shift, going on to score twice and adding an assist for 3 points on the night.
Say what you will about Brad Marchand.. he may be an agitator, but you can't deny that he plays with a ton of heart.
