At the end of last season, there was turmoil between the Golden Knights and Robin Lehner. Lehner declared he was injured and would be out for some time, but the following day, then head coach Pete DeBoer said they expected him to play and he ended up doing so.

Now, months into the off-season, the Knights dropped a bombshell. Robin Lehner is going to miss the entire 2022/23 season due to a hip injury that will require surgery. Lehner also underwent shoulder surgery earlier this summer.

That's a massive blow to the Knights and their hopes of making the playoffs. Have to think they wish they held onto Marc Andre Fleury, after dealing him to Chicago for nothing last off-season.

Not only will the Knights be without Lehner, but they are currently without their backup Laurent Brossoit as he also underwent surgery earlier this summer. Going into the season, if healthy, the Knights will have Brossoit and Logan Thompson as their two goalies. If Brossoit is not good to go, Logan Thompson will be Vegas' starter to begin the season.

Lehner and Brossoit's misfortune could turn out to be a great opportunity for a former Leaf, as the Vegas Golden Knights inked Michael Hutchinson to a 1-year, $750K contract this summer. At this point, Hutchinson is Vegas' most experienced healthy goaltender, which could mean a real run at some NHL starts.
