It is a tough day in the world of professional sports, the NFL and the Pittsburgh Steelers as TMZ announced on Saturday morning that 24-year-old Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins was struck and killed by a car early Saturday morning.

Haskins was a 15th overall pick back in 2019 by the Washington Football Team, now known as the Washington Commanders. He spent two seasons with the organization before becoming a Pittsburgh Steeler last year.

Haskins was doing some offseason training with teammates Najee Harris, Chase Claypool and Mitchell Trubisky in Boca Raton Florida this week.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin issued a statement on the tragic news that has left the Steelers organization reeling on Saturday:

"I am devastated and at a loss for words with the unfortunate passing of Dwayne Haskins. He quickly became part of our Steelers family upon his arrival in Pittsburgh and was one of our hardest workers, both on the field and in our community."

"Dwayne was a great teammate, but even more so a tremendous friend to so many. I am truly heartbroken."

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Kalabrya, and his entire family during this difficult time."

Cincinnati Bengals QB and former Ohio State Buckeyes teammate Joe Burrow also had shared a message on Haskins' passing on Twitter.

Very sad news to start the weekend. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dwayne's family, friends and teammates during this difficult time.
