Bruins fan tries to vilify Auston Matthews for the most ridiculous reason

On Wednesday, a Bruins fan took to social media to air his displeasure over something Auston Matthews did during the Canadian National Anthem. Now, obviously, we should take this all with a huge grain of salt, because the source is a Bruins fan - but something Matthews did during the Anthems is being twisted to seem like a sign of disrespect. Prior to Wednesday's game against the Panthers, Matthews was caught on video during the Anthems spitting on the ice - something just about every single hockey player does.

Obviously, Matthews didn't do this as a sign of disrespect to Canada - the country where he has played the last 7 years of his life and where he lives a good portion of the year. Matthews was simply caught up in a habit that many players have and that nobody actively thinks about while they're doing it.

There has been a lot of speculation from the various fanbases that Matthews does not want to play in Canada and will take the first chance he gets to leave. However, Matthews himself has openly declared his love of Toronto on a number of occasions. He remained in Canada (in FEBRUARY) throughout the entire All-Star break while everyone else was travelling to tropical destinations for vacation.

Listen.. calling it like you see it is one thing. Creating a false narrative to get a rise out of Leaf fans is another. Matthews was not disrespecting the Canadian National Anthem and this Bruins fan needs to go out and touch some grass every once in awhile.
