Pastrnak seemed to quash those rumours later on in the summer, stating that he could see himself remaining a Bruin if a fair deal can be reached. What constitutes a fair deal for Pasta? Well, that much is unclear, but we do know, thanks to Bruins correspondent Ty Anderson, that the Bruins are prepared to make Pastrnak the richest player in franchise history.
Per Anderson, the Bruins are willing to offer Pastrnak a deal that would pay him in excess of $11M, possibly as high as $11.5M per season on a long-term deal. At the moment, defenseman Charlie McAvoy is the highest earning player on the Bruins roster by a pretty significant margin, locked up for the next 8 years at $9.5M per season.
We know the Bruins are a franchise who likes to use their own internal cap of sorts and they don't like to pay guys top dollar. For the most part, the players have bought into their philosophy, with Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, Brad Marchand and Pastrnak all having taken less on their last deals. It doesn't appear as though that's the cast anymore.
