Johnny Gaudreau shocked the hockey world this week, officially inking a 7-year, $68.25M contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets. It was assumed Gaudreau would land in either New Jersey or Philadelphia if he were to decide to leave Calgary, as both cities are close to his home town of Salem, NJ. What was almost more shocking is that Gaudreau left over $10 million on the table to leave Calgary for Columbus. The Flames had offered him over $80 million over an 8-year deal. Gaudreau told the Flames and the media that this was a family move more than just a money move.

Andrew Brown, an anchor for CBC News Calgary, took a shot at Gaudreau's departure from the Flames on last night's broadcast. Nothing overly malicious mind you, but hilarious nonetheless.

Time will tell whether the move from Calgary to Columbus will be a good one for Gaudreau. Some have speculated that part of his reasoning was the fact that his wife, Meredith is a nurse for a Children's Hospital. Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus is very highly regarded, so perhaps that had something to do with it. She may not be the only one with a new employer though, as Brown took to Twitter to ask NBC's Columbus affiliate for a job as well!

Just some good, light-hearted fun on a Friday!
