A bit of an unusual development coming out of the Olympic Games in Beijing as Team Canada had refused to take the ice during yesterday's game against Team Russia in Women's Olympic Hockey.

The whole ordeal began when the Russian Women's Olympic team did not provide their COVID-19 test results ahead of their matchup on Sunday, leading to the Canadian women demanding to see negative results before playing the game.

Ultimately, the Canadian women had much more to lose, as they are in the running for a gold medal, while the Russian women's team had no chance of challenging for gold. An outbreak among the Canadian Women's team at this point would mean that they would either be forced to forfeit or to play without some key members of the team, which would undoubtedly impact the team's chances against Team USA.

The two sides eventually reached an agreement to go on with the match as planned, with both teams wearing masks underneath their helmet cages. Canada went on to win by a score of 6-1, moving to 3-0-0.
