The Canucks have had an intense lens on them this season, and not for a good reason. They started the season as the league's team with the worst record, losing their first seven games. They're 17-21-3 so far, which has them 6th in the Pacific Division.

However, recently, they've been under scrutiny for how the franchise has dealt with player injuries. It was announced this week that Tanner Pearson would miss the remainder of the 2022-2023 season after undergoing a second surgery on his hand following a recovery setback from an initial surgery he had in November.

Frustrated by the situation regarding his teammate, Quinn Hughes spoke out on it following the Canucks' loss against the Lightning on Thursday, a comment he's since followed up on.

Here is a summary of everything that's happened:

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time the Canucks haven't handled a player injury properly, either. Jason Dickinson said in October that he played most of last season with a broken hand, which had gone undetected by Canucks medical staff. And just this season, Brock Boeser had recovery setbacks following a hand surgery he received at the end of September. Boeser returned to play sooner than expected and missed more time due to difficulties following the surgery.

It's an unfortunate situation which is now officially going to be investigated.

Player injuries are no joke, as they can make or break someone's career. They need to be handled properly and professionally, which the Canucks lack and weren't noticed until a star player called it out. Hopefully, the investigation will result in actions to create a better, medically safe space for the guys in Vancouver.
