Coach Keefe shares his thoughts on Rasmus Sandin's preseason debut
After a contract hold out that went into the start of training camp, Leafs defensemen Rasmus Sandin finally made his preseason debut last night in Detroit. After the game, Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe what he thought of Sandin during the contest and while Keefe felt he looked good early, he also felt he showed some fatigue as the game went on. However, Keefe and the coaching staff expected this, given the fact that he missed the first part of training camp. His full quote is available below:

Sandin certainly had a large work load in last night's game. This should not be a surprise as he was the only defensemen on last night's game roster who had any NHL regular season games under his belt. He was involved offensively, scoring a goal and added four shots on net. Sandin also registered two hits and a blocked shot in his team-leading 22:32 of ice time.
Sandin was originally drafted by the Leafs in the first round (29th overall) in the 2018 NHL entry draft. He has spent the past three seasons bouncing between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Marlies. Over those three seasons, he has played 88 regular season games in the NHL, registering 28 points (6 goals & 22 assists). The young Swede recently signed a two year contract worth $2.8 million ($1.4 million AAV). Now with his new contract in place, expect Rasmus Sandin to have a larger role with the Maple Leafs than he ever has before.
