The Columbus Blue Jackets announced on Tuesday that they have agreed to terms on a multi-year extension for forward Jack Roslovic. Roslovic and the Jackets reportedly agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $8 million with an AAV of $4 million.

Roslovic is a Columbus native, who was set to become a restricted free agent this off-season. Why is this deal an important one? Because Roslovic had arbitration rights this summer and this deal may have ultimately saved the Jackets some money.

This season, Roslovic set a career-high in goals (22), assists (23) and points (45) in his first full year with Columbus.

Roslovic was acquired by Columbus alongside Patrik Laine, another RFA that Columbus hopes to re-sign, from the Winnipeg Jets for centre Pierre-Luc Dubois.

Now that Columbus has re-signed the former 25th overall draft pick from 2015, they can now move on to try and re-sign Laine, the former 2016 second overall pick.
