The rumours began to proliferate when Rick Dhaliwal of CHEK TV's Donnie & Dhali reported that he had heard that the Leafs had indeed contacted the Canucks on J.T. Miller. Since that time, there has been a lot of talk in and around Miller and the Buds, but a follow-up report from Dhaliwal may have people pumping their brakes a bit.
Miller does check a lot of boxes for the Leafs. That is irrefutable. But his cap hit certainly complicates matters for the Leafs, who have just $5.26M with which to work at the deadline currently, thanks to some LTIR cap relief. That's if they don't move out any salary, of course.
Coincidentally, Miller carries a cap hit of $5.25M - so if the Leafs do decide to circle back on the feisty forward, it's financially feasible - at least for this season - to bring him in.
Miller's production has exploded this season, with the soon-to-be 29-year-old having racked up 18 goals and 53 points in just 50 games this season.
Will the Leafs circle back? Or will they go in a bit of a different direction?
