Sean Avery is in big trouble.. literally
Possibly the biggest pests of all time, both on and off the ice, Sean Avery is making a return to pro hockey on a PTO with the ECHL's Orlando Solar Bears. The news has prompted some hilarious reactions from former players, including Matthew Barnaby, but now it might get serious for the former NHLer.
Legendary NHL heavyweight Georges Laraque posted today on his Twitter, begging for an ECHL team to sign him for one game - a game against Avery and the Solar Bears.
It's was a great joke. I can't imagine Avery wanting anything to do with dropping the gloves with Laraque. But it suddenly became a lot closer to reality when the Florida Everblades piped up.
Georges was quick to lay his cards on the table, asking the team to contact him via DM.
That joke is now starting to look a lot less funny if your name is Sean Avery. Laraque seems serious about it, but time will tell whether the Everblades will make good on their tweet. If they do, I'm predicting the ECHL will have record breaking viewership for that game. Who wouldn't want to see one of the biggest pests of all time run scared for 60 minutes from one of the league's best enforcers ever in Georges Laraque?!
