Connor Bedard with a goal of the year candidate to send Canada to the semis
On a night where Connor Bedard continued to add to his historic World Juniors, and Canada got a scare from the Slovaks, Bedard scored a ridiculous overtime winner to send Canada to the semi-finals.
After Canada hit about 5 posts in the last 5 minutes of regulation and to start overtime, including 2 by Bedard himself, Bedard said enough was enough. He intercepted a Slovak clearing attempt and proceeded to dance through all three Slovak defenders before beating an outstretched Adam Gajan.
Canada will now face the US in the semi-final while Czechia will face Sweden.
