The Leafs' organization underwent a bit of a forced transformation this summer after 14 players departed via free agency. This, of course, excludes the likes of Petr Mrazek, who was also traded to Chicago at the draft. We now know exactly where each of the 14 UFAs will play next season and not all of them will be playing in the NHL.

Per TLN's Kyle Cushman, only 8 of the 14 were able to secure NHL contract for next season, including Jack Campbell (EDM), Colin Blackwell (CHI), Ilya Mikheyev (VAN), Ondrej Kase (CAR), Ilya Lyubushkin (BUF), Michael Hutchinson (VGK), Kristians Rubins (OTT) and Brett Seney (CHI). 3 additional former Leafs have elected to sign in Europe, including Teemu Kivihalme (SM-Liiga), Chad Krys (ICEHL) and Joseph Duszak (KHL), while 3 more (Spezza, Hutton, Scott) hung up their skates and called it a career.

Since that time the Leafs have been busy adding at all levels of the organization, be it the NHL, AHL or ECHL. For the Leafs, the additions of Matt Murray and Ilya Samsonov provide the Leafs with a chance to produce better than 27th-ranked goaltending and a chance to get over the playoff hump, while the additions of Calle Jarnkrok, Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Adam Gaudette and a few potential AHL graduates will hopefully give the team's 2nd, 3rd and 4t lines a bit of a jolt.
